The UPSC CSE is a highly competitive exam conducted in three stages: prelims, mains, and interview. The prelims, held on June 16, 2024, served as a screening test. Candidates who successfully clear the mains will be called for an interview round, likely to be held in January 2025. This personality test assesses leadership qualities, communication skills, and overall suitability for various civil service positions.
The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined scores of the mains and interview rounds. This list determines who gets recruited for coveted positions like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central services.
Key Details for Candidates Who Qualified UPSC Mains 2024Provisional Candidature: The selection is provisional. Candidates must produce original documents for age, educational qualifications, category/reservation claims (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD), and other required certificates during the Personality Test.
e-Summon Letters: Dates for the Personality Tests will be announced soon. e-Summon Letters will be available on UPSC websites upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in. No paper summon letters will be issued. Candidates unable to download their letters must contact UPSC immediately.
Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II): Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II) submission window will open on December 13 and close on December 19, 2024, 6:00 PM. Candidates must fill and submit DAF-II online, indicating service and cadre preferences. Failure to submit within the deadline will result in cancellation of candidature.
Service Preferences: Candidates must carefully indicate their service preferences in DAF-II. Changes will not be allowed after submission. IAS/IPS aspirants must specify zone and cadre preferences as per the Cadre Allocation Policy.
Attestation Form: Candidates must complete the Attestation Form online via the Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T) portal during the interview phase.
