India woke up to a moment of sporting history on Monday as Grandmaster Gukesh D became the youngest winner of the Candidates tournament held in Toronto, Canada and became the youngest challenger to a World Championships crown.
The victory saw numerous reactions on social media, including one from Anand Mahindra, who referred to the 17-year-old as "The Iceman" and forecasted a long and bright future for him and chess, in the country.

"Big congrats Gukesh. Best wishes on your journey," another user wrote.
The Chennai lad became only the second Indian after the legendary Viswanathan Anand to win the Candidates tournament and the five-time former world champion reacted to Gukesh's triumph, saying that he was "personally proud" of the achievement.
