Amid swirling rumours that Microsoft is going to bring its exclusive franchises over to Sony and Nintendo's consoles, Head of the Xbox division Phil Spencer tweeted that the tech giant is planning a "business update event for next week".

Gaming publication XboxEra recently reported that Microsoft's flagship franchises like the recently launched Starfield may be heading to rival consoles Nintendo Switch and Sony's PlayStation 5.

According to the publication, Microsoft is planning to launch Starfield on PlayStation 5 sometime after the Shattered Space expansion. Starfield may not be the only franchise making the jump either.

Supposedly, the well received Hi-Fi Rush, console flagship Gears of War and the upcoming Indiana Jones and The Great Circle may also see releases on rival platforms. Rare's Sea of Thieves is also on the menu.

Fans reactions have been mixed. While many have bemoaned the loss of exclusive franchises from the Xbox platform, others are looking forward to the move.
