Carl Pei-led consumer tech startup Nothing will launch two new audio products. The company is also set to drop the number branding from its products. In a post on social media platform X, the company made the announcement. "2024 is the year we’re unveiling the ultimate iteration of Nothing Audio with two new products that reflect the culmination of three years of design and innovation. What we envisioned from the start - premium for everyone that isn’t about market price, but user preference,” the company said.
Nothing also said that it is going to adopt a conventional naming strategy. “So with this significant milestone, we’ve reset our naming strategy, stripping back the numbers to centre the focus around the product and the unique experience it delivers for each user. True to Nothing,” the company further said, before adding, “Get ready to welcome Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a) on 18 April 2024.”
The upstart brand with design as one of its biggest USP started with an audio product in 2021. “Since our very first product, we’ve relentlessly refined our design and engineering with every new addition to our audio product suite,” Nothing said on X.
Nothing Ear, Nothing Ear (a): What to expect
Apart from the names of the products, Nothing hasn’t officially confirmed anything. However, going by previous products — audio and others — we can expect the earbuds to have a transparent design. The image shared on X suggests a design similar to Nothing Ear (1) and Nothing Ear (2).
The Ear (a) is expected to be a toned-down version and will be priced lower than Ear. Nothing did the same earlier this year with the launch of Nothing 2(a) smartphone, which was an affordable version of the Nothing (2) smartphone launched in 2023. April 18 is when Nothing will unveil the two new products.
