It’s one of the world’s biggest tech events and it’s back. The buzz around the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona continues to build. The event will return to Barcelona between Feb 26 and 29, 2024. Traditionally MWC has always been a launchpad for smartphone brands. Over the years other consumer tech categories also get showcased at this big ticket event. From OnePlus to Nothing to HONOR, we’re likely to see some high-profile launches this year at MWC:
HONOR: HONOR is likely to offer a peek of its upcoming flagship series, the Magic 6, along with the Magic V2. The brand has also teased the release of its upcoming AI-powered Magicbook Pro 16. The AI-powered branding suggests this new laptop is likely to feature the newest Intel Core Ultra processors. The laptop will ride on HONOR’s Magic-link capabilities of its phones, tabs and PCs that allow display mirroring and easy file-sharing.
OnePlus: The brand has already confirmed that the OnePlus Watch 2 will debut at MWC. It’s a likely to a premium smartwatch and will be powered by Wear OS. OnePlus has set the expectations for battery performance with a claim of up to 100-hour battery life in smart mode. The watch takes design cues from the distinctive K-shaped curves of the OnePlus 12 series and features a round watch face.
Nothing: While Nothing has confirmed that its next smartphone – the Nothing 2a will launch on March 5, we could see the device make its first appearance at MWC 2024. Multiple sources have suggested that the device will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset, come in two hardware variants – 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB and two colour ways.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra
Xiaomi: We’re likely to see the Xiaomi 14 Ultra debut at MWC. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be powered by the latest Qualcomm chipset and is likely to offer a choice of three storage variants: 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB. The smartphone is likely to ride heavily on its rear cam co-designed with Leica. Leaks have suggested that the device will combine four 50MP sensors including a 50MP Sony LYT 900 lens with a 1-inch sensor size.
Moto concept
Other rumours: Motorola teased a bendable device that can be worn as a bracelet back in October. There has been no further update from the brand on launching this as a smartphone but we’re hoping to see this device make its appearance at MWC. There’s also speculation that Samsung might show off one of its wellness rings at MWC.
