A stampede at Maha Kumbh Mela’s Sangam Nose during Mauni Amavasya Shahi Snan left several injured, prompting authorities to cancel the ritual. A broken barrier triggered the chaos as lakhs rushed for the holy dip. NDRF, NSG, and heavy police presence were deployed, and the second Amrit Snan was put on hold. Religious leaders urged devotees to use nearby ghats. PM Modi and HM Amit Shah assured full support to CM Yogi Adityanath. Medical aid was provided at Sector 2’s hospital. Despite the tragedy, the next major bathing event, the third Amrit Snan, remains scheduled for 3rd February.
