Pelé, the Brazilian king of soccer who won a record three World Cups and became one of the most commanding sports figures of the last century, died on December 29. He was 82. Pele started playing for Santos Football Club in 1956. He scored his first professional goal in his league debut, in a match between Santos FC and Corinthians FC. During his football career, Pele won the FIFA World Cup trophy three times in 1958, 1962 and 1970
