Once a stronghold of undivided Shiv Sena, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party is seeking to regain its control over the south Konkan region after two of its MLAs and ministers Deepak Kesarkar and Uday Samant aligned with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during his rebellion in 2022.

Narayan Rane also added that the MSME sector is everywhere, from Charkha to Chandrayaan, playing a crucial role in increasing the production capacity of the country.
“Balasaheb Thackeray was my guru and still is,” Rane said at the Moneycontrol Policy Next MSME Summit in Delhi on June 28.
Rane's comments come weeks after the Bharatiya Janata Party lost the Karnataka state elections to the Congress, leading to questions being raised about the upcoming Lok Sabha election, which is set to take place in the first half of 2024.
“The people of Konkan want industry. We want development,” Rane said.
The Moneycontrol Policy Next MSME Summit, on June 28, will explore what more can be done at the policy level to aid the over six-crore-strong MSME universe.
An FIR was registered against Rane in 2021 at Mahad in Raigad under Indian Penal Code Sections 189 (threat of injury to public servant), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of public peace) and 505 (statements conducive to public mischief).
Asked about India's preparedness to confront the economic slowdown situation, Narayan Rane said, "Since we are in the cabinet, we get information (about economic slowdown) or PM Modiji advises us on it."
Earlier, the city civic body had also issued a notice to Rane’s 'Aadhish’ bungalow over alleged unauthorised construction and rejected his proposal for its regularisation.
"Amazon and MSME will tread together. We both will move towards progress, enhance our production, and supply good products to the people," MSME Minister Narayan Rane said.
On the question about providing support to MSMEs, the minister said loans amounting to Rs 2.82 lakh crore have been sanctioned to businesses.
The MSME minister noted that from FY20, some 6,159 cases have been disposed by MSEFCs, involving an amount of Rs 2,905.15 crore
Indian industrialists should start manufacturing the products which are no longer produced in China, he said.
The Minister for MSME launched the scheme at Guwahati. Rane also felicitated SC/ST Entrepreneurs of the North-eastern region and urged the youth to take up the entrepreneurship to become job givers than job seekers
During the event, Rane, who hails from Sindhudurg, listed out the work done by him since he was elected as an MLA from the district for the first time in 1990.
