Union Minister Narayan Rane considers Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the late Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray as his gurus.
“Balasaheb Thackeray was my guru and still is,” Rane said at the Moneycontrol Policy Next MSME Summit in Delhi on June 28. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing a lot for India… I respect Balasaheb and Prime Minister Modi, both are my gurus.”
Rane, who has worked across parties, hails from Maharashtra and joined the Shiv Sena at the age of 15 years. He is now a leader of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and in charge of the micro, small and medium enterprises ministry in the Modi government.
Minister Rane is a grassroot politician and a former chief minister of Maharashtra, the base of the Shiv Sena.
At the MSME ministry, his focus has been on helping the sector with financing after the shock of the pandemic.
Rane praised Modi’s vision for the Indian economy, which is set to become the third largest in the world after the US and China.
The Moneycontrol Policy Next MSME Summit on June 28 is exploring what more can be done at the policy level to aid the over six-crore-strong MSME universe. It will look at the hurdles that these firms face today with respect to financing and marketing.
