Increasing cases of heart diseases, especially in young adults, worldwide have become a cause of concern. While there has been an advancement in treatment, many continue to be diagnosed with cardiovascular issues every year. It is also one of the leading causes of death globally.

Heart issues don’t erupt suddenly; there are signs that appear way before any major trouble.

Cardiologist Dr Dmitry Yaranov shared 5 warning signs that may seem unusual and not connected to the heart, but they actually are. These are often brushed aside by many, as they are not considered serious.

“Your heart doesn’t always send obvious warnings. Many serious cardiac issues show up in ways people dismiss, mislabel, or completely ignore. If something feels off, trust it. Prevention and early action save lives. Take your heart seriously in the new year.”

5 warning signs of heart trouble

Jaw or tooth pain

One of the most overlooked symptoms of a heart attack, Dr Yaranov said, jaw or tooth pain can be “referred pain” from the heart, especially in women. It is often mistaken for a dental issue by most. It could be a sign of angina or even a heart attack.

Leg swelling

According to the cardiologist, this may indicate heart failure because your heart can’t pump efficiently. This results in fluid buildup in the lower extremities. It’s best to be alert if it gets worse at night.

Shortness of breath while lying down

Known as orthopnea, shortness of breath while lying down is often a classic symptom of congestive heart failure. Sitting or standing up comes as a relief. If you need extra pillows to sleep, that’s a red flag. It almost always indicates an underlying condition.

Nausea and cold sweats

He said, “This is seen in ‘silent’ heart attacks, especially in women. They may come with fatigue, dizziness, or anxiety. If your gut says something is off — listen.” Most often these symptoms are missed and cause a delay in treatment.
