The Narendra Modi government will return to power in 2024, Narayan Rane, the Union Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has said.
"I am not a party executive, so I don't want to comment on these matters. Anyway, there is still time (for the election)," Rane said on June 28 at Moneycontrol's PolicyNext Summit in the Capital.
"But the country will again see the return of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister and his government. And with more than 400 parliamentarians," Rane added.
Rane's comments come weeks after the Bharatiya Janata Party lost the Karnataka state elections to the Congress, leading to questions being raised about the upcoming Lok Sabha election, which is set to take place in the first half of 2024.
However, before that, a few other states will go to polls: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
While Rane has expressed confidence about the Modi government winning more than 400 seats, Home Minister Amit Shah last week predicted victory with more than 300 seats.
"They (opposition) want to challenge PM Modi and NDA. I want to tell them that in 2024 PM Modi will become PM by winning more than 300 seats," Shah said.
