Drug major Sanofi is recalling four batches of its painkiller Combiflam in India after the country's drugs regulator found the lots sub-standard.
India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) said in notices posted on its website in February and April that it had found some batches of Combiflam to be "not of standard quality" as they failed disintegration tests.
Now with more and more people opting for self medication and buying medicines on the net without proper checks, is forcing drug majors worldwide to invest heavily in combating counterfeit.
Drugmaker Sanofi India , a unit of France's Sanofi , plans to launch pain relief cream Combiflam across India next January after 18-month-long pilot sales in two South Indian states, a senior executive said on Tuesday.
