UPRERA to impart training to real estate agents

Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) will train new as well as existing real estate agents across the state and will provide them certificates, a move that will bring transparency and answerability in the work of agents and help in boosting their credibility in the sector, officials said.

They said that the training and certification has also been made mandatory by the Authority for new agents seeking RERA registration.

According to officials, UPRERA will start a special training and certification program for agents where they will be taught the provisions of RERA Act and UPRERA rules. In the training session, the Authority will make them understand the structure of the regulatory authority and sensitise them about the work model and interests of homebuyers.

The first set of certification courses will start from April 2024 in Lucknow. In the first phase, Real estate agents registered on portal and located in Lucknow should ensure their enrolment immediately. After enrolment, more details about the training program will be provided.

“UPRERA will organize three days training program in which agents will be trained about RERA Act 2016, its provisions and compliance, UPRERA Rules 2016, regulations, directions being issued by the Authority, role and responsibility of stakeholders, relevant laws to make real estate deals easy with homebuyers and promoters. An examination will be held on the fourth day and after evaluation, certificates will be distributed to the agents,” the Authority said.

Sanjay Bhoosreddy, UPRERA Chairman, said that agents in the real estate sector are working without any training and certification, which is not healthy for the sector and sometimes its adverse impacts have also been noticed during hearing of the matters.

“Presently, there are more than 6,700 registered agents and their training and certification is essential to bring transparency and credibility in the real estate sector. Now onwards, it is mandatory to obtain a certificate after training for new agents seeking RERA registration,” he said.
