Warring also commented that the Pulwama attack, where over 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives on February 14, 2019, remains a "big mystery".

BJP is capable of doing anything during elections, Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said on May 7, referring to the May 5 Poonch terror attack.

Interacting with the press, Warring also commented that the Pulwama attack, where over 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives on February 14, 2019, remains a "big mystery".

"The Pulwama attack is still a big mystery, a big story. I am not referring to the Poonch attack, but rather saying that the BJP is capable of doing anything during elections", he remarked during an interaction with the media, reported ANI.

Warring's comments come close on the heels of former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's recent "poll stunt" remark on the terrorist attack. The Congress' candidate for the Jalandhar parliamentary constituency, reportedly referred to the Poonch terror attack as a "stunt" orchestrated to benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections.

Warring, Congress' Ludhiana Lok Sabha candidate, also brought up former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, who raised concerns regarding the Pulwama attack and alleged intelligence failures.

Soon after, BJP leaders lashed out at Warring for his comments. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla launched a blistering attack on Congress, accusing it of prioritising "vote bank politics over national welfare".

Taking to microblogging site X, Poonawalla wrote, "In Modi Virodh giving clean chit to Pakistan and Ajmal Kasab other Jihadis Congress ka haath pakistan ke saath!"

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also strongly criticised Warring's remarks, saying, "Anyone who speaks the language of Pakistan should be sent to jail".

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "Those individuals who raise slogans supporting Pakistan should consider leaving the country rather than becoming a burden on India".

On May 5, terrorists ambushed an Indian Air Force convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, killing one and critically injuring four military personnel. Search operations to track down the terrorists launched by the Indian military are underway.
