The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be conducted in seven phases as per the announcement made by the Election Commission of India. The second phase of polls will be held on April 26 across 13 states.
Voting for 89 parliamentary constituencies will be held in the second phase.
The announcement was made by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. New Commissioners Gyanendra Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, who assumed office on Friday.
The current Lok Sabha’s term ends on June 16 and a new House has to be constituted before that. Nearly 97 crore people are eligible to cast vote in the upcoming poll at over 12 lakh polling stations.
In 2019, the Lok Sabha poll were announced on March 10 and held in seven phases beginning April 11 and the votes were counted on May 23.
The term of the Assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha is coming to an end on different dates in June. In the last parliamentary polls, the BJP secured 303 seats while the Congress got 52 seats.
