Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals were involved in an bidding war before Kolkata Knight Riders came in and were later joined in by Gujarat Titans. Starc broke the record held by Pat Cummins, who was brought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for a sum of Rs 20.5 crore at the same auction.

West Indies bowler Alzarri Joseph was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL auction for Rs 11.50 crore. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants also bid for him but was ultimately sold to RCB after a fierce bidding war with LSG.
