Global alumina supplies will get a boost after a Brazilian court allowed Norsk Hydro’s Alunorte refinery to resume operating at full capacity, from its earlier cap of 50percent. The company had been penalised over a year ago due to spills from this plant that polluted the environment The Alunorte refinery’s annual capacity is 6.3million tonnes and Norsk Hydro said it expects utilisation to reach 75-85percent within two months.
