The World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit, WAVES is a step precisely in that direction. WAVES is beginning from May 1 to May 4, 2025, in India’s entertainment capital, Mumbai at Jio World Convention Centre. In the past, just as some economic thought leaders gave us Davos as a venue for World Economic Forum & Cannes, a global Brand for the Film festival, the Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to remain ahead of time by emerging as a global leader in the media & entertainment sector.
WAVES is a premier global event that brings together the entire Media and Entertainment (M&E) sector. It aims to connect India's M&E industry with the global market and the global M&E industry with the Indian market, fostering growth, collaborations, and innovations. WAVES aims to become a global convergence summit for the media and entertainment industry.
Purpose of WAVES summit
The Summit wishes to give to the world, a single unified platform, where the creators can fulfill their dreams of earning "name & fame", judged by professionals & industry leaders of varied creative professions that lie in the media & entertainment industry. WAVES summit will help India showcase itself as a leader in the media & entertainment industry using its soft power & talent pool before the world. After shortlisting the global creators through 31 different Create in India challenges, WAVES seeks to mentor & nurture the talent with academic professionals & industry leaders.
The purpose is to promote collaboration, innovation, and discussion in the media and entertainment industry. The summit will not only highlight India's advancements in the industry, but position India as a global leader in the industry as well. This in turn will encourage investments in the industry and build a skilled workforce for the industry
Professionals Identifying top level Creators
In the Creatosphere chapter of summit about 25 varied professional bodies dealing in creative formats like Gaming, Comics, music, animation, broadcasting, esports, visual effects & animation etc. have already shortlisted about 400 creators. Currently they are in the process of refining the talent with an intense competition so that more than 725 top level creators can be presented before the world on the forum of WAVES. Efforts are being made by these professional associations belonging to these creative formats to enhance the global participation. The identified creative work from such talent hunt exercises from across the globe, after being mentored, will be presented to industry professionals & big firms belonging to the media & entertainment sector firms during the WAVES summit. Creative talent pool will be mentored by professionals in a mentoring activity known as Waves accelerator. The talent will be given a chance to team up & explore the possibilities of coming up with start-ups, the fund facilitation support by industry leaders to help them develop their creative ideas into a product, needed for the media & entertainment industry. Such final products of these young creators can be sold & purchased by top entertainment firms, giving an instant recognition to creators for their products while at the same time protecting their intellectual property rights.
Global Media Dialogue to connect creators and Industry players with Global Media landscape
The summit also seeks to position India as a leading nation among the comity of nations by hosting Global Media Dialogue during the summit. In this regard, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting along with the Ministry of External Affairs organized a 'Session on WAVES 2025' on 13th March 2025 attended by Union Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar , Minister of E&IT, Railways and I&B Ashwini Vaishnav and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. The meeting was attended by ambassadors and high commissioners of more than 100 countries. The session served as a platform encouraging these nations to connect their creators and industry players with the global media landscape by actively participating in WAVES 2025.

The Global Media Dialogue seeks to explore the opportunities for collaboration and participation from most countries of the world. A declaration is likely to be announced during the WAVES Summit as an outcome of the Global Media Dialogue, which will serve as a roadmap for the global media and entertainment fraternity to evolve World Entertainment Forum like platform in M&E sector.
