UP by-election results 2024: NDA ahead in six seats, SP leads in three

In the Khair assembly constituency (71) bye-election in Uttar Pradesh, BJP candidate Surender Diler has taken the lead with 3,447 votes, maintaining a margin of 1,709 votes over Charu Kain of the Samajwadi Party, who has garnered 1,738 votes so far. Trailing further behind are Nitin Kumar Chotel of the Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) with 590 votes and Pahal Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party with 448 votes. In the ongoing by-election for the Sishamau assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Naseem Solanki has taken an early lead with 6,624 votes after the second round of counting. She is ahead by 496 votes over BJP's Suresh Awasthi, who has secured 6,128 votes so far.

He shared a list of journalists covering the Moradabad bypolls, using the hashtag 'MediaJihad.' Congress leader Anil Yadav accused Tripathi of targeting Muslim journalists and inciting violence, demanding legal action against him. Tripathi, a former journalist and advisor to CM Yogi Adityanath, has faced criticism for his remarks.

The bypolls to nine Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh recorded an overall voter turnout of 49.3%, significantly lower than the 61.03% turnout in the 2022 state elections. Ghaziabad saw the lowest participation at 33.3%, while Kundarki registered the highest turnout at 57.7%. Polling took place in Meerapur (57.1%), Kundarki (57.7%), Katehari (56.9%), Karhal (54.1%), Majhawan (50.41%), Sisamau (49.1%), Khair (46.3%), Phulpur (43.43%), and Ghaziabad (33.3%).

A total of 90 candidates contested in these bypolls, with Ghaziabad fielding the highest number (14) and Sisamau and Khair seeing the lowest (5 each). The results could provide insight into voter sentiment across the state.
