Three men, who robbed a jewellery store in Karnataka's Kalaburagi, were arrested after the police caught a little loophole in their plan. The police is also on a lookout for a fourth person who was allegedly involved in the crime.
Not only that, the owner of the shop, who had unreported the amount of gold that was stolen from his shop, fearing police raids, is now also being probed.
On July 11, Ayodhya Prasad Chouhan (48), Farooq Ahmed Malik (40), and Sohail Shaikh alias Badshah allegedly planned the heist at the jewellery store owned by Marathulla Malik. This happened after Farooq allegedly suffered losses in his business, which he planned to recover from this robbery.
Farooq stayed stationed outside the jewellery store while the other three men went inside and tied Malik's hands. They looted the shop of gold and cash. Reports said that gold worth Rs 2.15 crore has been recovered from them.
But how did they get caught? Well, that happened because of the pav bhaji craving that Farooq had after the accused carried out the robbery. Instead of immediately running away after looting the store, Farooq went to a nearby shop to eat pav bhaji. Moreover, he paid Rs 30 at the shop using PhonePe.
Police caught hold of the three accused after they checked the CCTV cameras surrounding the pav bhaji shop, leading to the arrest of the accused, eventually. Moreover, Farooq's UPI payment also came under the scanner, through which, the police got a contact number, thus helping them in zeroing down the accused.
