'Shameful day for Democracy': Samrat Choudhary reacts to announcement of Tejashwi Yadav as CM face

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has reacted to the Chief Minister's face announcement by Mahagathbandhan and called it a "shameful day for Democracy".

On RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav being announced as Mahagathbandhan's CM face, Choudhary said, "Lalu Yadav declared the CM face of Mahagathbandhan through hooliganism torturing Congress and other parties, just the way they spread jungle raaj in Bihar... Now, his son, a registered criminal, is envisioning himself as the CM, and this is a shameful day for democracy..."

Kishor said that the move under "Jungle Raj was always expected." Speaking to the media, Kishor said, "It was always expected that if Lalu Yadav’s ‘Jungle Raj’ were to return, Tejashwi Yadav would be the CM face. So, what’s new in that?"

Along with Tejashwi’s declaration as the alliance’s chief ministerial candidate, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) leader Mukesh Sahani was announced as the deputy chief ministerial face. Sahani, widely known as the “Son of Mallah”, had joined the Grand Alliance in April last year following extensive discussions.

At the joint press conference, senior figures from the RJD, Congress, and other alliance partners rallied behind Tejashwi, voicing strong faith in his leadership and presenting him as the unified opposition’s face against the ruling NDA in Bihar.

The Mahagathbandhan opposition alliance has fielded 253 candidates for Bihar's 243 Assembly seats, exceeding the total by 10 amid ongoing seat-sharing disputes that forced parties to file unilaterally before Monday's nomination deadline.
