Savitri Jindal, India's richest women, wins Hisar seat in Haryana

Jindal defeated Congress candidate Ram Niwas Rara and incumbent BJP MLA Kamal Gupta by a comfortable margin.

Independent candidate Savitri Jindal, who is the richest woman in India, has won the Hisar assembly seat in Haryana, according to Election Commission.

Jindal defeated Congress candidate Ram Niwas Rara and incumbent BJP MLA Kamal Gupta by a comfortable margin.

After her victory, Savitri Jindal expressed her gratitude to the people of Hisar in a post of X, saying "Abhaar Hisar Parivar" (gratitude to the family of Hisar).

Savitri Jindal, 74, is the mother of BJP's Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal and wife of industrialist late O P Jindal.

According to her affidavit, she has assets worth Rs 270 crore, including Rs 80 crore of immovable assets.

According to Forbes India, Savitri Jindal and family have assets totalling to $42.2 billion. Forbes India has estimated her personal net worth at Rs 3.65 lakh crore.

has listed her as the richest woman in the country this year having a net worth of $ 29.1 billion, according to reports.

Savitri Jindal was elected as an MLA from the Hisar seat twice. She represented Hisar in the Haryana Assembly for the first time in 2005 as a Congress MLA. She was re-elected from the seat in 2009 and was made a minister in 2013. She quit the Congress in March.
