Chief Minister Pema Khandu has been elected as the BJP legislature party leader.

Pema Khandu is set for another term as chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh.  Khandu, along with his cabinet colleagues, will take oath on Thursday morning, marking the continuation of his leadership in the state.

Khandu was elected the BJP Legislature Party leader at a meeting in Itanagar on Wednesday. BJP's central observers Ravi Sankar Prasad and Tarun Chugh attended the meeting, according to  PTI.

According to reports, Khandu will meet Governor KT Parnaik to stake his claim to form the government.

"Feeling so honoured to be elected unanimously as the Legislature Party leader of @BJP4Arunachal.  With utmost humility, I accept the responsibility of leading the BJP to another term of development oriented governance in sync with the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri
@narendramodiji," Khandu posted on X.

Khandu has been Arunachal's Chief Minister since 2016. He first assumed office after the resignation of Nabam Tuki. When Khandu first became the state's chief minister, he was with the Congress. He switched to the BJP for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Khandu-led BJP in Arunachal Pradesh won the assembly polls by securing a landslide victory by winning 46 seats in the 60-member assembly.  In the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP retained its two states from the state.

Who is Pema Khandu?

Born into a prominent political family, Khandu completed his early education in Tawang and later pursued higher education in New Delhi. He was a student of Hindu College in New Delhi. Khandu's political career began after the death of his father, Dorjee Khandu, in a helicopter crash in 2011. Khandu was elected unopposed to the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2011 from the Mukto constituency, a seat previously held by his father.
