On huge rush at Maha Kumbh mela, Northern Central Railway CPRO Shashi Kant Tripathi says, "Special trains are being operated from eight stations of the Prayagraj division of Northern Central Railway, Central Railway and Northern Railway. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw dismissed rumors about the closure of Prayagraj station, emphasizing that train services are running smoothly and efficiently from all eight stations in the area. Speaking to the media at Rail Bhawan, he urged devotees not to believe in such rumors.

Priyank Kanoongo, the chief of the NCPCR, has written a letter to Mira Chatt, Head of Public Policy at YouTube, urging urgent action to remove a specific episode or video from the platform. Kanoongo further instructed that, before the content is removed, YouTube must provide details of the channel and the specific videos to the police authorities handling the FIR for further action. A bomb threat letter was found on board an international flight that landed in Ahmedabad on Monday morning, prompting the authorities to search the aircraft, an official said. Nothing suspicious has been found so far on the Jeddah-Ahmedabad flight that landed at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, he said.

Local police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and security agencies searched the aircraft after the threat letter was found under a seat, said Sharad Singhal, joint commissioner of police, crime branch.

Overnight Russian drone attacks sparked a fire in Kyiv and injured a woman and damaged several houses in the northeastern city of Sumy, Ukrainian officials said on Monday.

No injuries were reported in the attack that sparked a fire at a non-residential building in Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a post on the Telegram messaging app. But a 38-year-old woman was hospitalised after Russia launched drones at Sumy, which is the administrative centre of the broader Sumy region, Ihor Kalchenko, governor of the region said on Telegram.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday said that Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh's resignation was "long overdue". "Violence has been carrying on in the northeastern state for two years. It was long overdue ... (For) two years, this has been carrying on in Manipur," she told reporters here when her reaction was sought on the matter.

Two persons were injured in firing near a gurdwara at Nanded in Maharashtra on Monday, police said. One of those injured is believed to be a murder accused out on parole, they said. An investigation has been launched into the firing, the police said.

Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Monday asked the government to complete a population census at the earliest, claiming that around 14 crore people in the country are being deprived of the benefits under the food security law. In her maiden Zero Hour intervention in the Rajya Sabha, Gandhi said beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) are being identified as per the 2011 Census, and not the latest population numbers.

President Droupadi Murmu to soon take a holy dip at Sangam

President Droupadi Murmu will visit the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Monday and take a holy dip at the Sangam, her office said.

Maha Kumbh, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13), is the world's largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from across the globe. It will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.

“During her day-long visit to Prayagraj, the President will take holy dip and perform Pooja at Sangam, perform Pooja and Darshan at Akshayvat and Hanuman Mandir, and also visit the Digital Kumbh Anubhav Centre,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement issued on Sunday.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 15th edition of the Bengaluru Aero Show at Yelahanka Air Force Station today. President Donald Trump said he has ordered a stop to minting new pennies because they cost more to make than they’re worth.

He announced that he has directed the Treasury Secretary to halt production of the one-cent coin featuring Abraham Lincoln as part of a broader effort to cut waste in the national budget.

“For far too long the United States has minted pennies which literally cost us more than 2 cents,” he said in a Truth Social post. “This is so wasteful!”

India expects stable delivery of a domestically-made light combat aircraft powered by a GE engine in the upcoming fiscal year after a delay of nearly 12 months, a top government official said on Sunday.

India's state-run planemaker Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) would have the capacity to hand over 16 to 24 aircraft in the fiscal year that starts in April following stable delivery of the engine made by the aerospace division of GE, the official said.

The delivery of engines for the fighter jet named "Tejas" was due to begin in March 2024, but Indian defence ministry sources said supply chain constraints faced by GE impacted new deliveries beyond the 65 engines already delivered as of 2023.

The Indian Air Force is desperate to shore up its fighter squadrons, which have fallen to 31 from a target of 42, at a time when rival China is expanding its own air force.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday said that he is committed to buying and owning Gaza, but could allow sections of the land to be rebuilt by other states in the Middle East.

“I'm committed to buying and owning Gaza. As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it, other people may do it, through our auspices. But we’re committed to owning it, taking it, and making sure that Hamas doesn’t move back.”
