Incumbent PP Chaudhary—Supreme Court lawyer turned politician—is seeking reelection from Pali Lok Sabha seat, which is close to Jodhpur and falls on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
Chaudhary is confident of winning the election with a similar margin as of 2014 despite his party has lost three out of eight seats in the district during the recent assembly election.
Speaking to Moneycontrol the BJP leader said, "I am not afraid because I have done work in my constituency in the last five years. I am not that man who has come a month back and is now asking for votes."
Chaudhary is Minister Of State, Law and Justice, and Corporate Affairs in the Narendra Modi government. During his tenure, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has struck off more than 5 lakh companies from its official record.
However, in his constituency, he is famous as 'solar man' for installing solar light in villages. He has installed more 50,000 solar light in villages. He also claimed of starting Rs 9,000 crore worth of infrastructure projects in his constituency in the last five years.
Rejecting the impact of Congress' proposed NYAY scheme in the election, he said, "You can fool people one time but not every time. People of this state were promised during the assembly election that unemployed youth would get Rs 3,500 per month in their account and farm loans would be waived off. But both things have not happened in the last three months. So, this time, this scheme announcement will not have any impact on the ground ".
Commenting on PM Modi's speech in Barmer when he said that India's nuclear stockpile was not just for Diwali, Chaudhary said " It shows we have a strong prime minister. You also know Manmohan Singh never faced public after any attack by Pakistan. But we have shown, especially after Balakot, that we have a strong government at the Centre."
BJP candidates are relying on Narendra Modi's face to get them through. However, Chaudhary is confident of winning all 25 seats in Rajasthan—a repeat of 2014.
