After returning to Mumbai on December 19, the victim distanced himself from the woman and avoided contact with her.

At around 1.30 am on January 1, the accused reportedly invited her lover to her home to 'have sweets' to ring in the New Year. According to the official, when the victim tried to leave, the accused have attacked him with a sharp object, slashing his private parts while her two children were asleep in the room.

According to a report in NDTV, the woman first asked the victim to remove his pants and then went to the kitchen to get a vegetable knife. She then suddenly attacked the victim's private parts.
