Sonam Raghuvanshi, alleged to have planned the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, was placed under a 72-hour transit remand after surrendering to the Uttar Pradesh police on Monday, according to reports.
The remand order was issued late Monday night after Shillong police presented Sonam Raghuvanshi before the District Judge's court.
After hearing the police’s arguments, the court granted a 72-hour transit remand.
Sonam, who married Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi on May 10 and traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21, surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, early Monday after days of search.
This development comes a week after Raja’s body was discovered in a deep gorge near Cherrapunji, following a search for the couple who were initially reported missing.
Shillong police claimed that his death appeared to be a murder, dismissing the possibility of an accident.
After surrendering to Uttar Pradesh police, Sonam admitted to hiring contract killers to murder Raja.
Among the four individuals arrested is Raj Kushwaha, with whom she was reportedly having an affair. The other three accused have been identified as Aakash Rajpoot, Vikas alias Vicky, and Anand.
