Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday expressed condolences and announced financial aid of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the bereaved people who lost their lives in Dehradun's Sahastradhara incident.

Three people were buried under debris in Dehradun's Sahastradhara area as a result of heavy rainfall that led to flooding in the area and caused severe damage to houses and properties across the State, authorities said on Tuesday.

In a post shared on X, Uttar Pradesh CM said, "The loss of lives in the unfortunate accident that occurred in the Tons River in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand is extremely heartbreaking. My condolences are with the bereaved families."

Heavy rain leads to a rise in the water level of the Jakhan river, leading the Rishikesh-Dehradun highway to collapse at Mazri village. Rainwater has entered a nearby temple.

The rescue team on Tuesday rescued a total of 200 students who were stranded after the Devbhoomi Institue campus, located in Paunda area of Dehradun, got waterlogged following overnight heavy rains.

NDRF and SDRF have started the rescue operations in Dehradun's Sahastradhara as cloudbursts in the area have led to heavy flooding, resulting in severe damage to houses and properties.

In rural areas of Rishikesh, the communication has been disrupted due to the water of the rivers. The railway line connectivity has been lost due to the water.

Inspector Trupti Sonawane said, "The Indiranagar Police Station received a threat email at around 2.45 am, sent from a fake email address, claiming there was a bomb in the bathroom of Nasik Cambridge High School located on Vada Pathri Road. Upon being informed by the school administration, the police called the bomb squad and conducted a thorough check following standard operating procedures. No suspicious objects were found, confirming the school is safe. The investigation is ongoing, with the cyber police station assisting in tracing the fake email address."
