West Bengal government appointed Manoj Kumar Verma as the new Kolkata Police Commissioner on Tuesday, replacing Vineet Goyal. This comes after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the agitating doctors to resolve the RG Kar impasse.
Goyal has been given the role of Additional Director General (ADG) of the Special Task Force (STF).
Manoj Kumar Verma, who hails from Rajastha, is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1998 batch.
In his previous role, he has served as ADG and IG of Police (Law & Order). Earlier, he was posted as IG of Darjeeling and Superintendent of Police in West Midnapore.
