JJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav's poll pitch: Cricket stadium in Mahua, India-Pak faceoff

Tej Pratap, who was expelled from the RJD by his father Lalu Prasad Yadav in May and floated his own party, the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), asserted that he faced no competition in Mahua, where he made his electoral debut from Mahua on an RJD ticket in 2015.

On Friday, he ruled out any possibility of returning to the RJD, asserting that he would "choose death over going back" to the RJD.

Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav became the latest addition to a list of leaders continuing to promise a range of schemes or measures if elected to power in the upcoming Bihar assembly polls. The former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader promised a cricket stadium and an India-Pakistan match in Mahua assembly constituency if he wins from this seat.

Meanwhile from NDA, Chirag Paswan's LJP has fielded Sanjay Singh and RJD has fielded Mukesh Rausan against Tej Pratap Yadav. This constituency will see a high-stake battle in upcoming Bihar polls. The RJD has given a ticket to Mukesh Raushan, the sitting MLA from Mahua, who is a close aide of Tejashwi Yadav.

Talking to ANI, he said, 'A cricket stadium will also be built in Mahua, and I will make sure an India vs Pakistan match is played. I have no competition in Mahua... JP Lohia, Karpuri Thakur, and Lalu Prasad Yadav, among other senior leaders, are 'Jannayak'. Tejashwi cannot be a Jannayak because he has reached here because of my father... I am no longer in the lantern (RJD)... I am not greedy for any post. If I am offered anything in the RJD, I will reject it. I will never form an alliance with anyone.'

After being expelled from RJD, Tej Pratap Yadav made a re-entry into the state's politics. He has filed his nomination from Mahua constituency. He made his electoral debut in 2015 from this constituency, and is seeking to regain power here. He said, 'I have been attached to this constituency since much before I entered politics.'

On Friday, he ruled out any possibility of returning to the RJD, asserting that he would "choose death over going back" to the RJD. "I would choose death over returning to that party. I am not hungry for power. Principles and self-respect are supreme for me," he told news agency PTI.

Responding to Tejashwi Yadav being declared Mahagathbandhan's chief ministerial face, Tej Pratap said only the people's blessings determine power, while asserting he faced no challenge in his constituency.

The first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls will take place on November 6, and the second phase will happen on November 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14. This upcoming electoral contest will be between the NDA, led by the BJP, and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), and the INDIA bloc, led by Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj is also contesting on all 243 seats in this high-stake battle.
