Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has welcomed the agreement between India and Pakistan to cease hostilities, praising the leadership of both nations and the mediation efforts of the United States.

"I most sincerely commend Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of India and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan for agreeing to a ceasefire with immediate effect and to engage in talks. I would also like to express my deep appreciation to President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio for their effective mediation. Bangladesh will continue to support our two neighbours to resolve differences through diplomacy," Yunus posted on X.

The ceasefire agreed by India and Pakistan on Saturday is "hugely welcome", UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy wrote on X, adding that de-escalation was in "everybody's interest".

"Today's ceasefire between India and Pakistan is hugely welcome. I urge both parties to sustain this. De-escalation is in everybody's interest," he wrote.

Punjab reimposed blackout measures in several districts as a precautionary measure after withdrawing it earlier on Saturday.

Blackout measures have been imposed in many districts including Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Pathankot, Patiala, Moga, Kapurthala, and Muktsar districts.

The development came after Pakistan violated the bilateral understanding reached this afternoon to immediately stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea.

Germany on Saturday welcomed as a first step the full and immediate ceasefire agreed to by India and Pakistan after days of deadly attacks.

"The ceasefire agreed between  #India and #Pakistan is a first, important step out of the escalation spiral. Dialogue is key," the German foreign office said in a post on the X social media.

Türkiye and Azerbaijan have welcomed the ceasefire declaration between India and Pakistan, calling it a crucial step toward regional peace and urging both nations to engage in sustained dialogue.

In a statement issued on May 10, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:

“We welcome the declaration of a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. We call on the parties to make maximum use of the opportunity provided by the ceasefire to establish a direct and healthy dialogue.”

The ministry further emphasised the need for long-term stability in South Asia, noting, “Dialogue mechanisms to prevent similar escalations, including in the field of counter-terrorism, need to be established to ensure sustainable stability in South Asia.”

Türkiye also extended appreciation to all countries involved, “in particular the USA,” for contributing to the ceasefire.

Echoing similar sentiments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan stated:

“We welcome the declaration of a ceasefire between the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”

“We express our hope that this ceasefire will contribute to the reduction of tensions in the region, as well as to the establishment of lasting peace and stability.”

The Azerbaijani government urged both countries to “engage in productive dialogue aimed at resolving outstanding issues and building mutual trust.”

A soldier lost his life on Saturday after being struck by a fragment from a Pakistani drone that was successfully intercepted by the Army Air Defence at an air base in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, officials said.

The incident occurred just hours before India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire, following days of intensified combat. Tensions escalated after the Indian armed forces launched missile strikes on nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7, in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, officials added.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday directed the release of additional water to Rajasthan to meet the requirements of the military stationed along the border, an official statement said.

The statement noted that the Rajasthan government had requested extra water from Punjab’s quota, citing the increased demand from military deployments.

“Whenever national interests are concerned, Punjab never takes a backseat. Not only water but Punjab can shed its blood for the sake of national interests,” Mann said.

In the wake of recent drone attacks by Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday held a meeting with civil society members to discuss public safety measures, the state’s preparedness, and the need to preserve communal harmony during this sensitive period.

During the interaction, the chief minister urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant, advising them not to panic and to trust only verified and official sources of information.

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday appealed to people to remain calm and avoid panic, assuring them that there is no shortage of essential commodities including food grains, petroleum products and cooking gas.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma made the appeal amid the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan.

In a stark warning to Pakistan, India on Saturday said that any "future act of terror" will be considered as "act of war" against it and will be responded accordingly, according to top government sources. This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting at his residence.

Another briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs is likely to take place around 5.30PM today.

The Indian Army on Saturday destroyed multiple terrorist launchpads located near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Now if you look at it, the root of terrorism in Pakistan is also not perhaps the headquarters of LeT or JeM, but it is the (Pakistani) army stronghold in Rawalpindi. Afghanistan on Saturday rubbished Pakistan's claim that India launched a missile attack on its territory, saying there was "no truth to such claims". Maharashtra Cyber has removed 5,000 posts from social media platforms containing fake news and misinformation about the military conflict between India and Pakistan, an official said on Saturday. PTI quoted officials as saying that fake news about the army's movements, strategic operations, or retaliatory measures from neighbouring countries was found on social media.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Saturday said it has extended an additional security cover to temporarily supervise cargo operations and in-line hold baggage screening system at 69 civil airports of the country under its counter-terrorist cover. A spokesperson for the paramilitary force said the move has been initiated following a directive issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) on May 9 "temporarily" extending CISF's cover to these processes in "direct response" to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent security scenario in the country.

More than 100 terrorists were killed in the precise strikes as Indian Armed Forces struck terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during Operation Sindoor. Those killed include five top commanders from Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, according to government sources.

A high-level security review meeting in on at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, as India and Pakistan conflict intensifies. Defence minister Rajnath Singh, national security adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan and tri-services chiefs are part of the security huddle, reports have said.

The meeting comes a few hours after the daily media briefing by the external and defence ministries. Pakistani military is moving troops to forward areas, indicating intent to further escalate the situation, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said at the briefing.

Red alert issued in Pathankot, markets shut as precautionary measure amid heightened security in the wake of India-Pakistan military conflict.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on Pak President Asif Ali Zardari and briefed him about the ongoing situation against India.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said India should embrace its leadership role in the subcontinent and take the first step to de-escalate tensions with Pakistan, as it is a moment for the country to stand tall and demonstrate that its true strength lies in its soft power and commitment to peace.

"Even though US Vice-President J D Vance initially said that America wouldn't intervene beyond a certain point in the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, in light of the worrying intensity of the situation, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has now reached out to the Pakistani Army chief, urging de-escalation," Mufti said in a post on X.

Former High Commissioner to Pakistan, Gautam Bambawale, has described the military conflict between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor as a "war-like situation", asserting that the Central government has a "steely resolve" and a clear sense of its objectives. Speaking at a panel discussion on the topic, 'Operation Sindoor', organised by Pune International Centre (PIC) on Friday, Bambawale said, "I would like to describe the current situation as a 'war-like situation'. When I say a war-like situation, I mean to say that we are at the edge of getting into a full-scale war, but we are not yet there."

Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri and Gurez sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, PTI reported officials as saying. The officials said that the Pakistani troops targeted Charunda and Hatlanga areas of Uri sector in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

Pakistan also violated ceasefire in Bagtore area of Gurez sector in north Kashmir's Bandipora district, the officials said. As per the officials, heavy shelling was going on at these places. However, there were no reports of any loss of life so far.

The district administration in Punjab's Amritsar on Saturday banned the use of drones amid military conflict between India and Pakistan. As per the order issued by Amritsar DC Sakshi Sawhney, it has been brought to the notice of the undersigned that the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, in the jurisdiction of district Amritsar poses a potential threat to public safety, security, and law and order.

The order stated that there are credible reports that certain anti-social elements or miscreants may misuse such UAVs for surveillance, smuggling, photography of sensitive installations, or other activities prejudicial to public peace and tranquility.

A suspicious metal object resembling parts of a missile was found at Behad village near the Chintpurni temple in Una district, PTI quoted officials as saying on Saturday. Amid the military conflict between India and Pakistan, two other suspicious objects resembling remains of a drone and a missile were also found at two places in the Indora area of Nurpur in Kangra district, it said.

While the suspected remains of a drone shot down by the Indian Army was found at Damtal village near Pathankot, debris resembling missile parts were recovered from Jota village, police confirmed.

The PIB issued a fact-check regarding a viral claim claiming that the Bathinda Airfield has been destroyed. PIB said that such posts spread on social media are completely fake, and the reality is that Bathinda Airfield is fully operational and there has been no damage.

Foreign secretary Vikram Misri has dismissed as "frivolous allegations" Pakistan’s claims that Indian missiles hit Afghanistan. "I only want to point out that Afghan people don't need to be reminded about which country it is that has on multiple occasions in just the last one and a half years targeted civilian populations and civilian infrastructure in Afghanistan," he said.

Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif regarding talks of nuclear usage and a rumoured meeting of Pak's National Command Authority: "This thing that you have spoken about (nuclear option) is present, but let's not talk about it - we should treat it as a very distant possibility, we shouldn't even discuss it in the immediate context."

"Before we get to that point, I think temperatures will come down. No meeting has happened of the National Command Authority, nor is any such meeting scheduled," he told Pakistan's ARY TV.

Pakistan’s foreign minister Ishaq Dar said on Saturday his country would consider de-escalation if India stopped further attacks.

However, he warned that if India launched any strikes, "our response will follow".

Dar told Pakistan’s Geo News that he also conveyed this message to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio when he contacted him after speaking to New Delhi 2 hours back.

Congress MP Manish Tewari said IMF's $1 billion bailout package to Pakistan is extremely unfortunate. "The money which goes to Pakistan does not go for the development of the people of the nation. It goes to strengthening these terror networks, which then they use to create mayhem in the entire region. And so, the 'sympathy' of the International Monetary Fund towards Pakistan is clearly unwarranted because they are being deliberately oblivious as to how that money is being used," he said.

As a response to Pakistan's misadventures of attempted drone strikes on the night of May 8th & 9th in multiple cities of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, the Indian Army conducted a coordinated fire assault on terrorist launchpads, pulverizing and razing them to cinders.

US government Spokesperson Tan Bruce informed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He said: "Secretary Rubio reiterated that both parties must find ways to de-escalate the current situation and re-establish direct communication to avoid miscalculation. He also offered U.S. assistance in starting constructive talks in order to avoid future conflicts."

India targeted Pakistan military bases at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunian were targeted through air launch, precision ammunition and fighter jets. Radar site in Pasrur and aviation base in Sialkot were also targeted with precision ammunition.

On top of that, this is pedalled by the Pakistani State Agencies, the claims that they have made about attacking and destroying various military installations in the country are completely false. The claim about the air force stations in Sirsa, Suratgarh, being destroyed, they are false. Claim about S-400 base in Adampur is being destroyed, is false."

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says, "We have also seen in some of the remarks that the Pakistani army spokesman seems to take great joy at the fact that the Indian public should criticise the government of India with various issues. It may be a surprise to Pakistanis to see the citizens criticising their own government, as that is a hallmark of open and functional democracy. Pakistan's unfamiliarity with that shouldn't be surprising..."

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh says, "Indian armed forces carried out precision strike only at identified military targets in response to Pak actions."

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi says, "Pakistan used drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, jets to attack India's military sites along Western front"

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh says, "...Pakistan Army has been observed to be moving its troops towards forward areas, indicating an offensive intent to further escalation. Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness, and all hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded proportionately. Indian armed forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided the Pakistan side reciprocates."

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh says, "In a swift and calibrated response, Indian armed forces carried out a precision strike only at identified military targets... Pakistan has also attempted to execute a continued malicious misinformation campaign, with claims of destruction of the Indian S-400 system, destruction of airfields at Surat and Sirsa... India unequivocally rejects these false claims being spread by Pakistan."

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi says, "The Pakistani forces have continued aggressive activities on the entire Western front, UCAP drones, long-range weapons, ammunition, and fighter jets have been used, they targeted the army infrastructures. Heavy firing were seen at the LoC. At the LoC and IB, their fighter jets tried to intrude at more than 26 locations. Indian armed forces neutralised most of the attempts. But they inflicted damage at air force stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, Bhuj, Bathinda stations. They used high-speed missile to hit Punjab's air base at 1.40 am."
