• Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Friday that he would donate one month’s salary to the National Defence Fund in support of India’s armed forces amid Operation Sindoor. He also expressed the possibility of extending a similar proposal to Congress MLAs and MLCs.

• In light of the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan and the need for complete administrative readiness, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have announced that no leave will be granted to any officers or officials until further notice.
• An official order issued by the MCD states that this directive follows instructions from the Delhi government’s Services Department dated May 8.
• “All Heads of Departments of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are hereby directed not to grant leave to any officer or official until further orders,” the order reads.

India’s energy availability remains undisrupted amid rising border tensions on account of oil inventory and oil marketing companies’ (OMCs) crude tie-ups, several people aware of the matter told Moneycontrol. Gunshots and explosions were reported as Pakistan renewed its arms and artillery fire along the Line of Control in the Uri sector.

Given the current situation, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has directed that no leave of any kind, including station leave, will be granted to any officer except on medical grounds until further orders. All previously approved leave is hereby cancelled, and officers currently on leave are instructed to return to duty immediately.

  Equipment Type Approval (ETA).
  The failure to disclose this essential information violates several laws, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019; the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885; the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933; and the 2018 Rules on the Use of Low Power, Very Low Power Short Range Radio Frequency Devices (Exemption from Licensing Requirement).
• Selling such non-compliant wireless devices not only breaches legal provisions but also poses potential threats to national security.

On Thursday, the Indian Army had said on X that Pakistan launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire western border.

On security arrangements in Maharashtra in view of India-Pakistan tensions, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde said, "Review meeting was chaired, a detailed discussion took place regarding security of Mumbai and Maharashtra...people don't have to panic. Govt will take care of them and has made all the arrangements for their safety...we will follow the guidelines of the central govt..."

The district administration in Haryana's Ambala, which is a key air force base, on Friday issued an order to enforce blackout during night hours amid the military conflict between India and Pakistan.

"In view of the prevailing circumstances, it is imperative to ensure a complete blackout during night hours to safeguard public safety and strategic interests," an order issued by Deputy Commissioner Ajay Singh Tomer said.

Use of inverter, generator and any other power backup used for outdoor lights, billboards, street lights, etc., has been banned from 8 pm to 6 am in Ambala district till further orders, the order said. (PTI)

Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders, according to an official statement.

The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans ; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said, “We did not create these conditions. Innocent people have been killed in Pahalgam — but now Pakistan is escalating the situation. It would be better if they restrained.”

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday held a phone call with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Taking to X, Jaishankar said, "Our discussions centered around countering terrorism, for which there must be zero-tolerance."

The Government of India has empowered the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) to call upon every officer and enrolled member of the Territorial Army to provide critical support for national security and supplement the regular armed forces.

This decision, made under Rule 33 of the Territorial Army Rule 1948, grants the COAS the authority to mobilise 14 Infantry Battalions from the 32 existing Territorial Army battalions for deployment across key defense commands including the Southern Command, Eastern Command, Western Command, Central Command, Northern Command, South Western Command, Andaman and Nicobar Command, and Army Training Command (ARTRAC), according to an official statement by the Ministry of Defence.

Mounting further pressure on Pakistan, India has blocked X (formerly Twitter) accounts of leading Pakistani journalists, including Hamid Mir and Najam Aziz Sethi, according to a report by News18.

PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti, on heightened India-Pakistan tension, said, "As the tension between India and Pakistan continues to escalate, it is unfortunately taking a heavy toll on innocent lives on both sides of the border. In these critical times, I firmly believe that restraint is crucial. The leaders and military commanders of both nations must come together to de-escalate the situation and prioritise the safety and well-being of innocent civilians who are suffering the consequences of this conflict. The Indian Premier League (IPL) was on Friday suspended indefinitely due to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

This comes a day after the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was cancelled in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, following air raid alerts in neighbouring cities of Jammu and Pathankot.

“We’ve invited all sections of society to salute our armed forces and stand united. I’m glad people from all walks — veterans, students, and political parties — have joined us. India is stronger and, as under Indira Gandhi’s leadership, we will prevail again," Shivakumar said.

Emergency siren testing will be conducted in the national capital on Friday at 3 pm. The siren will reportedly be tested in the ITO area, specifically at the Old PHQ and PWD buildings. This is a routine drill organized for testing purposes only, according to a report by News18.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday reached the government hospital in Jammu to meet the people who were injured in the Pakistan shelling that took place in Poonch.

According to the Border Security Force (BSF), on 8-9 May, 2025, a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K was foiled after BSF killed at least seven terrorists and caused extensive damage to the Pakistan Post Dhandhar.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will hold an important security review meeting today at 1:30 PM at his official residence, Varsha. The meeting is expected to focus on the current law and order situation in the state.

Due to the current situation, all flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, and Rajkot are cancelled until 2359 hrs till 10 May 2025, says Indigo.

The Uttarakhand government has instructed all hospitals in the state to remain on high alert. Leaves of doctors and staff in hospitals have been cancelled.

Following the instructions of the Central Health Ministry, Uttarakhand Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar has issued necessary guidelines and instructed the state to mark 12000 beds in all the hospitals and keep all ICUs and ventilators ready.

Indian Railways on May 9 said will run special trains between Jammu and Udhampur. Airports were shut in Jammu yesterday after Pakistan resorted to drone attacks, which were neutralised by Indian forces.

The railways in a statement said:

-Train 04612 planned 10:45 ex Jammu with 12 unreserved and 12 reserved coaches.

-Another 20 coach Vande Bharat rake as special being planned 12/45 ex Udhampur via Jammu and Pathankot.

-Another 22 LHB full reserved special being planned ex Jammu around 19/00 hrs tonight.

DC Chandigarh on May 9 said an Air warning has been received from Air force station of possible attack.

"Sirens are being sounded. All are advised to remain indoors and away from balconies," a statement said.

On India-Pakistan tension, Congress MP from Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa says, "The entire country stands with the Armed Forces...They (Pakistan) are in fear today. Even in 1965 and 1971, they had targeted civilians in India. Every country should boycott Pakistan. Since I belong to a border town, I have contributed my monthly salary to the National Defence Fund (NDF). Every citizen must contribute to the nation."

Fresh ceasefire violations were reported along the Line of Control in Digwar sector of Poonch on May 9. Indian Army replied effectively to the firing. Damages were reported in civilian areas.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan mocked the claims of the Pakistan government that five Indian jets were shot down during the Operation Sindoor.

In a video that went viral soon after her criticism of the Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, she accused him of spreading falsehood and also claimed that former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are hand in glove with each other. Read more

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the postponement of the remaining Chartered Accountants (CA) Final, Intermediate, and Post Qualification Course Examinations scheduled between May 9 and May 14, 2025. This decision comes in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Indian Armed Forces' precision strikes under Operation Sindoor.

In its official statement released today, ICAI said: “In partial modification of the Institute’s Important Announcement No. 13-CA (EXAM)/2025 dated 13th January 2025, it is announced for general information that in view of the tense and security situation in the country, the remaining papers of Chartered Accountants Final, Intermediate and Post Qualification Course Examinations stand postponed.”

The Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI- Indian Army) on May 9 said Pakistan launched multiple attacks across the Western border in the intervening night of May 8 and May 9. The strikes were effectively repulsed by the Indian Army, a statement said.
