The Alipore Court has granted bail to the IIM Calcutta rape accused on a bail bond of Rs 50,000. The court further observed that the victim girl had not cooperated in the investigation.

Last Saturday, police confirmed that a student at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) accused a fellow student of rape inside a boys' hostel on the campus.

Following the police confirmation, the accused was arrested after the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) by the survivor at Haridevpur Police Station.

The alleged assault had taken place on last Friday within the premises of the institute, according to the police.

The victim woman, who is also a student at IIM-C, claimed she had been invited to the hostel under the pretext of a counselling session.

In her complaint, she stated that after being offered a drink at the hostel, she lost consciousness, allegedly due to it being laced with a sedative. Upon regaining consciousness, she realised she had been sexually assaulted.

However, the father of the woman, who was allegedly raped at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) campus, later reportedly denied that any such thing happened and claimed his daughter had simply fallen out of an auto rickshaw.
