The BJP-led Gujarat government on Friday announced a new cabinet with 26 ministers, including cricket Ravindra Jadeja's wife Rivaba Jadeja.
Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi took oath as the state’s Deputy Chief Minister.
The ministers took oath in the presence of Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and BJP chief JP Nadda at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar. The move comes a day after the entire cabinet, barring CM Patel, submitted its resignation. Gujarat, which has a 182-member assembly, can have a maximum of 27 ministers.

The new Cabinet retains three outgoing ministers and inducts 19 new faces.
A senior BJP leader told Hindustan Times that the ministers were asked to submit their resignations by Thursday afternoon to give the CM and the party leadership flexibility for a strategic reshuffle ahead of the local body elections and 2027 state assembly polls. “The chief minister met the ministers after they resigned on Thursday and they have started vacating their offices”, he said.
The CM had earlier led a council of eight cabinet-rank ministers, two ministers of state with independent charge and six ministers of state. This is the first major rejig in Patel’s council since he took over as CM in 2021.
