Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj domestic airport has received bomb threats yet again. On Monday, an email threatening to blow up the airport was received by the airport director, claiming explosives were planted on-site.
According to reports, the email stated that explosives had been planted on the airport premises and that that the airport could be blown up at any time.
The police were informed by the airport management and the investigations were ongoing. It is known that the police were trying to reach the sender via the IP address and the security at the airport was being reviewed.
This is not the first time that this airport has received such threats. This is the fourth such instance in the past month in which the airport, private laboratories and school were sent such threats which later turned out to be hoaxes.
Days before, on July 5, the Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express, going from Delhi to Durg, was delayed by almost an hour after it was halted at Jhansi railway station following a bomb threat, which later turned out to be a hoax.
The officials said in the reports after the train left Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi around 6 pm on Friday, an unidentified person called the railway helpline 139 and claimed that a bomb had been planted in a sleeper coach of the train.
Teams of the Railway Police Force (RPF) dog squad and bomb disposal squad were called in. Other train arrivals were also diverted to other platforms.
Earlier this month, a private airline’s office at Pune airport received a bomb threat, following which checks were conducted at the international airport and nothing suspicious was found.
