Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 14 called for ending monopolies in technology and highlighted the need for technology to be creative and lay the foundation for an inclusive society.
In his address at an Outreach session of the G7 summit in Italy's Apulia region, the Prime Minister highlighted that the countries of the Global South are bearing the brunt of global uncertainties and tensions. He reiterated India's responsibility to bring the priorities and concerns of the Global South to the world stage, with a particular focus on Africa.
Shortly after, the Prime Minister took to microblogging site X, sharing his experience at the G7 Summit.

The Prime Minister expressed great satisfaction at attending the Summit following his re-election in what he described as the largest democratic exercise in human history. He emphasised that for technology to succeed, it must be grounded in a human-centric approach. Highlighting India's achievements in leveraging digital technology for public service delivery, he underscored the country's commitment to ensuring that technological advancements benefit all segments of society.
Speaking on India's AI Mission, centered on "AI for All," the Prime Minister stressed that artificial intelligence should aim to foster progress and well-being universally. He also highlighted India's role as a founding member of the Global Partnership for AI, promoting international cooperation in this field.
Regarding India's energy transition strategy, Prime Minister Modi outlined its principles of availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. He reiterated India's commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070 and encouraged global participation in initiatives like Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). He called upon the global community to join India's tree plantation campaign, "Plant4Mother" (Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam), turning it into a widespread movement driven by personal commitment and global responsibility.

India has been invited to the summit as an Outreach Country, marking PM Modi’s fifth consecutive visit to the G7 Summit. The Prime Minister arrived in Italy on the morning of June 14 to participate in the 50th G7 leaders' summit. During the summit, he held discussions with his UK counterpart Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Upon his arrival in Italy, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the summit, stating that he was "looking forward to engaging in productive discussions with world leaders".
