A fake and unsuspecting training center was being operated under the name ‘Yuddhaveer Training Camp’ in the Maldevta area of Dehradun, where a man and his associates posed as senior Army officers, duping hundreds of hopefuls.
The mastermind, 28-year-old Satyajit Barath Kamble from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, was arrested for running a fraudulent Army recruitment scheme, charging Rs 7-8 lakh from individuals across multiple states under the false promise of securing positions in the Army and Military Engineering Services, according to a report in The Times of India.
Kamble had leased land from a local farmer to set up the fake camp, where he and his accomplices, dressed in Army uniforms purchased from Dehradun's Paltan Bazar, conducted bogus training sessions. The scam came to light after a youth filed a complaint on August 26 for fraud.
Kamble, who had failed to clear the Army recruitment test himself, used his knowledge of the process to exploit desperate aspirants in states like Uttarakhand, UP, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, the TOI report said.
An Army officer explained how the fake center operated: Kamble and his associates, dressed in Army uniforms, posed as senior officers overseeing the training process at the camp.
Maharashtra Police are searching for Kamble's absconding accomplices, while Army officials in Dehradun are yet to receive formal information on the case.
