'I humbly accept this outcome': Justice Reddy accepts defeat in Vice President election

The Vice President's post has been vacant since July 21, 2025, as Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his position, citing health reasons.

INDIA bloc's vice-presidential candidate Justice B. Sudershan Reddy accepted his defeat in the Vice President elections and said that the ideological battle with continue. He also congratulated Vice President-elect CP Radhakrishnan on his victory.

"Today, the MPs have rendered their verdict in the election for the office of the Vice President of India. I humbly accept this outcome with an abiding faith in the democratic processes of our great Republic...Though the result is not in my favour, the larger cause we have collectively sought to advance remains undiminished. The ideological battle continues with ever greater vigour...I wish the Vice President-elect Shri CP Radhakrishnan the very best as he embarks upon his tenure," he said in a statement.

CP Radhakrishnan won the vice presidential elections with 452 votes while INDIA bloc's B Sudershan Reddy managed to secure 300 votes. Fifteen votes were considered invalid.

A total of 98.20 per cent voter turnout was found in the Vice Presidential elections, wherein 767 MPs cast their vote out of 788. A total of 13 MPs abstained from voting in the Vice Presidential elections.
