Sandip Ghosh, former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal, had ordered renovation near the seminar hall where a trainee doctor was found raped and murdered on August 9.
West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Mazumdar on September 5 shared a letter allegedly signed by Ghosh ordering renovation pointing at a lack of proper and separate doctors' rooms and washrooms. The letter, which went viral on social media platforms, is dated August 10 - just a day after the doctor's death.
"The order, signed by Sandip Ghosh, former director of RG Kar Medical College, is dated August 10, just one day after the victim's death. Despite allegations from colleagues and protesters about tampering with the crime scene, the Police Commissioner denied it," the Bengal BJP chief posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The letter, addressed to the executive engineers of various PWD departments of Kolkata, was titled, "Repair/Renovation/Reconstruction of on duty Doctors' Rooms along with separate attached toilets in all departments of RGKMC&H Kolkata on urgent basis".
"I would like to inform you that there are deficiency of on duty Doctors’ Rooms and separate attached toilets in various departments of RGKMC&H, Kolkata. You are hereby requested to do the needful immediately as per demand of Residents' Doctors of RGKMC&H," the letter, which was allegedly signed by Ghosh, reads.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on September 2 arrested Sandip Ghosh in connection with the alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Hospital. He served as principal of RG Kar Medical College from February 2021 to September 2023. He was transferred from RG Kar in October 2023 but returned to the same position within a month.
Ghosh was asked to go on leave by the West Bengal government after the rape and murder of the trainee doctor came to light. The Kolkata Police arrested a civic volunteer, Sanjoy Roy, in connection with the medic's rape and murder. Roy was later handed over to the central probe agency.
The ex-RG Kar principal has moved the Supreme Court, challenging the Calcutta High Court order of CBI probe into alleged financial irregularities.
