The Danapur assembly constituency will largely see a tough contest between current Danapur MLA and RJD candidate Rit Lal Ray and BJP's pick Ram Kripal Yadav.

The Danapur assembly constituency is all set to go to polls during the first phase of the Bihar assembly elections on November 6. It is one of the 243 assembly seats in the poll-bound state.

Established in 1957, the Danapur constituency is one of the six Assembly segments of the Patliputra Lok Sabha seat. The seat is currently held by RJD MLA Rit Lal Ray.

Danapur assembly election 2025: Constituency profile

It is a General category assembly seat. Situated on the banks of two rivers, Ganga and Sone, Danapur is a sub-divisional town under Patna district. The town adjoins the state capital Patna and is part of the Patna Metropolitan Region. Danapur is better known for its cantonment area, set up by the colonial British rulers in 1765, making it India’s second oldest after Barrackpore in West Bengal.

Danapur assembly election 2025: Key candidates

The Danapur assembly constituency will largely see a tough contest between current Danapur MLA and RJD candidate Rit Lal Ray and BJP's pick Ram Kripal Yadav. A total of seven candidates are contesting on the seat, including independent candidates Pawan Kumar and Shailesh KR Dhiraj.

Danapur assembly election 2025: Past winners

During the 2020 Bihar assembly elections, RJD candidate Rit Lal Ray won with 89,895 votes and defeated BJP's Asha Devi, who received 73,972 votes.

In the 2015 assembly elections, Asha Devi of BJP won in the constituency and defeated the RJD candidate by 5,209 votes. Asha Devi got 72,192 votes while RJD's Rajkishor Yadav received 66,983 votes.

Danapur assembly election 2025: Voting, result dates

Voting will be held in two phases in Bihar. The first phase of voting will take place on November 6 and the second phase on November 11. Danapur assembly seat will go to polls in the first phase along with 120 other constituencies.

The counting of votes will take place on November 14.
