Chandrababu Naidu announces plans to make Andhra Pradesh India’s drone capital

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu attended the Amaravati Drone Summit 2024, where he outlined plans to position Andhra Pradesh as India’s drone capital. The event, which included innovators, drone manufacturers, and experts, focused on advancing drone technology in the state.

Naidu announced the allocation of 300 acres of land in Orvakallu, Kurnool District, for the development of a drone hub. He emphasized the aim to make Amaravati a global center for drone manufacturing and innovation.

Additionally, Naidu revealed plans to train 35,000 drone pilots in Andhra Pradesh to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the industry. He indicated that the state government would release a comprehensive drone policy within 15 days to facilitate a business-friendly environment for drone manufacturers.

During his address, Naidu discussed the use of drones in recent disaster response efforts, such as delivering food and water during the Vijayawada floods. He stated that drones could also address urban traffic issues and improve agricultural processes.

Naidu expressed confidence in India’s potential to become the third-largest global economy by 2047 and praised the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in promoting India on the international stage.

He stated the importance of data in driving innovation, stating that 400 million terabytes of data are generated daily. He called for the creation of a robust ecosystem for knowledge-based industries in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.

In closing, Naidu highlighted the role of emerging technologies like drones and AI in advancing the knowledge economy in the state and the country.
