Bihar Election 2025 Live Updates: NDA going to form govt with the biggest majority, says Amit Shah

The Election Commission of India (ECI) holds a meeting with Heads of Enforcement Agencies/Forces to combat the movement of cash, drugs, liquor and other inducements during the Bihar elections.

Nitish Kumar has freed Bihar from Jungle Raj, said union home minister Amit Shah on Friday, adding that both him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have worked towards the development of the state. "Nitish Kumar has freed Bihar from Jungle Raj. PM Modi, over the last 11 years, has worked to develop Bihar. PM Modi's 11 years have been a blessing to the poor," he said.

Shah also reiterated that the NDA is fighting the Bihar election under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.

Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni has announced that he will not contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Instead, he said he will focus on campaigning for his party’s candidates, including his brother Santosh Sahni, who is contesting from the Gaura Bauram seat.

Union home minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Bihar's Saran, said this time the people of Bihar are getting a chance to celebrate four Diwalis. "People of Bihar are celebrating four Diwalis this year -- on the day of Diwali, on the day when the NDA government transferred Rs 10,000 into the accounts of 'Jeevika Didis', on the day when GST was reduced, and on November 14, when the results of the elections will be announced," he said.

Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya expressed confidence over NDA's prospects in the upcoming Bihar Assembly election. "In Bihar, the NDA is moving towards a very big victory. The Mahagathbandhan has already crumbled even before the elections... All parties of the NDA coalition are contesting the elections together and receiving very good support from the public," he said.

Bihar Election 2025: Congress releases first list of 48 candidates

The Congress has declared 48 candidates for the Bihar Assembly election. The announcement came even before the party concluded its seat-sharing talks with Mahagathbandhan allies such as the RJD.

The key partners of the National Democratic Alliance-BJP, JD(U) and LJP, have announced candidates for the upcoming two-phase Bihar election.

According to the seat-sharing arrangement, the BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each in the 243-member Assembly. As part of the deal, Union Minister Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will fight on 29 seats while the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each. Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma is scheduled to visit Bihar today to campaign for the BJP in the Assembly polls. During his one-day tour, he will address a major election rally in Dumra, Sitamarhi, as part of efforts to energise the party’s campaign.

To finalise measures against voter inducement in the Bihar polls, the Election Commission will hold a meeting on Friday with the Committee of Heads of Enforcement Agencies and Forces.

The chief secretary and DGP of Bihar will also join the meeting online along with state chief electoral officer.
