Arvind Kejriwal arrest: Delhi traffic police issue advisory, list of routes to avoid

The police advised the commuters to avoid various routes in the central Delhi region as a large number of APP supporters are expected to gather to protest.

The Delhi Traffic Police today issued an advisory as the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) will hold a protest over the arrest of party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The police advised the commuters to avoid various routes in the central Delhi region as a large number of APP supporters are expected to gather to protest.

In a post on X, Delhi Police wrote,"In view of the proposed protest by Political party at DDU Marg Delhi, Traffic will remain heavy at IP Marg, Vikas Marg, Minto Road and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. DDU marg will remain closed for traffic movement. Kindly avoid these roads and plan your journey accordingly."

 

Also, Delhi Metro's  ITO station will remain closed till 6pm today, said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. In a post on X, the DMRC wrote, "On advice of Delhi Police, ITO Metro station will remain closed from 08:00 AM to 06:00 PM today i.e, 22nd March 2024".

Meanwhile, a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court will on Friday hear Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal, mentioned the matter for urgent listing. Singhvi said he was mentioning a matter of "some significance and urgency". Singhvi said he was mentioning a matter of "some significance and urgency".

"If this process goes on, I am very sorry to say, before the first vote is cast, a lot of senior leaders will be behind bars.
