Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday resounded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's thoughts on appeasement politics and said that the "Congress was responsible for the partition and did not reflect the will of Muslim population."

At the Rising Bharat Summit, Amit Shah said, "Muslim population did not want the partition of the nation. And Modi ji said it right that the Congress leaders back then are responsible for the partition. Their politics of appeasement is responsible for two nations."

"Through your platform, I want to tell the youth of the nation, that bear anything but eradicate the poisonous ideology of appeasement from the country. Those indulging in appeasement are against nation," Amit Shah said.

When asked about which leader in Congress was responsible for the partition, Amit Shah said, "It would be very difficult to single out a leader. Congress later made Jawahar Lal Nehru the prime minister. Whoever takes the decision, become the PM. Our topmost leader is Modi ji, so he became the PM. Congress made Nehru ji the PM then."

"But I can guarantee you, ask the country's youth today, ask anyone. Would they have been ready for the partition back then?", Shah questioned, adding, "Congress leaders had accepted the partition and I believe there was no bigger compromise than this."

On Day 1 of the Rising Bharat Summit, PM Modi headlined the event. He said ordinary Muslims did not conceive the idea of a separate nation and added that it was an agenda of a few extremist elements. The Prime Minister further said that Congress aided the agenda of these radical elements before India's Partition.

PM Modi said that "The Congress got power after Independence due to appeasement politics but Muslims got poverty, there were no jobs or education, and women got injustice like Shah Bano, where their constitutional rights were crushed because of extremism."
