The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is set to make his first official visit to India from September 9 to 10, 2024, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to a press release by the Ministry of External Affairs on September 7.
Sheikh Khaled Al Nahyan on his first official visit to India as Crown Prince will be accompanied by several UAE ministers and a high-level business delegation, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the bilateral relations between India and the UAE.
The Ministry of External Affairs noted that during his visit, the Crown Prince will meet Prime Minister Modi on September 9 to discuss a wide range of areas of cooperation. Sheikh Khaled Al Nahyan is also scheduled to meet the President of India and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
On September 10, the Crown Prince will travel to Mumbai to take part in a Business Forum aimed at bolstering trade and investment ties. The forum will see the participation of business leaders from both countries, fostering opportunities for collaboration across various sectors.
"India and UAE share historically close and friendly ties. In recent years, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and UAE has deepened in a wide range of areas including political, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, technology, education, and culture," MEA stated. "The Crown Prince’s visit will further reinforce strong India-UAE bilateral relations and open avenues for partnership in new and emerging areas," it added.
In February this year, PM Modi visited the UAE, where he engaged in discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the visit, eight agreements were exchanged, and the leaders welcomed the signing of an MoU establishing an intergovernmental framework for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC).
The two leaders also emphasized efforts to deepen economic and commercial cooperation. They expressed satisfaction with the robust growth in UAE-India trade relations since the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
During his visit, PM Modi inaugurated the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, and addressed the Indian diaspora at the 'Ahlan Modi' event.
