Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday passed a lewd remark at JD(U) leader and incumbent CM Nitish Kumar over an upcoming women's rally scheduled to be held mid-December.

Referring to the 'Mahila Samvad Yatra' that the Chief Minister is scheduled to undertake, Lalu said: "Aankh sekne jaa rahe hain (he is going only to letch)."

The remarks triggered a sharp reaction from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the JD(U)'s partner in the ruling alliance, with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha coming down hard on the RJD chief.

"Lalu ji is in the last stage... He is unable to understand things and says anything," Sinha said.

The 'Mahila Samvad Yatra' initiative was proposed by the state's Rural Development, is a pan-Bihar programme that the Chief Minister plans to undertake ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for October-November 2025.

Focussed on hemes of women's empowerment under the leadership of Nitish as chief minister and is seen as a key initiative aimed at connecting with women voters who form a significant part of Nitish's support base.

The state cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 225.78 crore for organising the ‘Mahila Samvad Yatra’ program across Bihar.
