Right then, the first game of this long T20I series is done and dusted and it's advantage England early on, especially with the manner of this win but there's a long way to go. The next game will be played at the same venue and less than 24 hours later on Sunday, 10 November at 8 pm GMT. You can join us a lot sooner though for the build-up to that game. Cheers!

The captain of England, Jos Buttler says that it was a fantastic performance and he is really delighted for the boys. Mentions that they know what to expect from West Indies and it is important that you keep taking wickets. Further says that if you allow the West Indies batters to spend time out in the middle, they can really hurt you. Appreciates Phil Salt by saying that he has taken his game to new heights and he is reaping the rewards of the work he has put in. Mentions that the wicket was a bit two-paced early on and he is glad that they could strike early with the ball in the Powerplay. Ends by saying that the message to the boys has been to go out there and enjoy themselves.

Rovman Powell, the captain of West Indies says that it is generally the way they play but it didn't come off tonight and yet they managed to get a decent total on board. Reckons that losing wickets in clusters is something they need to fix going forward and they still need to back themselves and play their brand of cricket. Adds that it is about the guys working on their individual skills with the ball and applauds Akeal Hosein for his tight bowling. Ends by appreciating the crowd as well.

Phil Salt is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his stunning ton. He says that he enjoys batting here and has grown up playing on these surfaces. Mentions that it is important to adjust quickly to meet the demands of the tempo of T20 cricket. Shares that opening and closing of the grip have helped access different areas of the field. Lauds Jacob Bethell by saying he is a huge talent and hopes he continues to do well for England.

The Presentation ceremony...

Earlier in the game, the returning English skipper, Jos Buttler opted to bowl first as there was moisture on the deck and Saqib Mahmood backed him up with a quick three-wicket burst early on. West Indies did counter through Nicholas Pooran but it was the lower order that did most of the damage as Russell, Shepherd and Motie all made scores of 30 plus and took the hosts to a fairly substantial total. Saqib ended up with a four-fer as Adil Rashid picked up 3 wickets as well. In reply, Phil Salt ran the show with the bat and we also saw the greatness of a rising star in the form of Jacob Bethell. However, both sides seem to have lost a player to injury as Reece Topley frustratingly left the field early in the game and then Andre Russell was seen hobbling back to the dressing room as well late in the game. Hopefully, both of them are fit for the next encounter.

West Indies had the runs on the board and would have been decently happy at the halfway stage but England's batting in the Powerplay just blew them away. The hosts conceded 73 runs in the first 6 overs and picked up one wicket which did become two in the very next over but that was it. They just couldn't handle the heat from Salt and Bethell and succumbed to a hefty defeat.

Phil Salt's love affair with the Kensington Oval continues and on a ground where he spent a lot of his younger years, he has yet again put on a stellar performance with the bat, notching up his 3rd T20I ton as well. He was amply supported by young and feisty Jacob Bethell who too has a connection to this venue and Bethell picked up a half-century as well. The pair added 107 runs for the 3rd wicket in just 61 balls and completely hammered the opposition bowlers en route to victory.

The highest-ever successful run chase in a T20I game at the Kensington Oval! A resounding victory for England to kick off the five-match T20I series and if game 1 is anything to go by, we are in for a treat all throughout the series.

16.5There it is, Jacob Bethell with the winning runs! England complete a dominant chase! Coming to the delivery, this is banged into the deck, on middle and leg, Jacob Bethell rises with the bounce and pulls it firmly to the right of deep square leg and comes back comfortably for the second run. England win by 8 wickets with 3 overs to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series!

16.4SIX! WOW! That is a shot of real authority! Angling across the batter, on a length, Jacob Bethell stays low to make the connection and stays leg side of the ball. Thumps it as he goes inside out over cover and picks up a six. The 100-run stand comes up between these two batters. England are just 2 runs away now.

16.3This is on a short of a length, slower and on middle, Jacob Bethell swivels for the pull but fails to connect and wears it on the body.

16.2On a back of a length, on off, Salt slaps it down the ground to long off for a single.

16.1HUNDRED FOR SALT! A knock of the highest order from Salt. Third T20I hundred of his career and all of them have come against West Indies. Romario Shepherd goes searching for the yorker but ends up serving a low full toss, on middle, Salt drills it down to long on where Rovman Powell gets around to his left and tumbles but lets it get past him and it trickles into the fence. Salt sets off on a celebratory run, takes the helmet off and soaks in the applause from the crowd and his teammates.

15.6On a good length, on off, Salt cuts it to deep point and retains the strike with a single.

15.6WIDE! Very full, down leg, Salt misses the tickle.

15.5Full and on the pads, flicked through mid-wicket for a couple of runs. Moves to 98 does Salt.

15.4MAIDEN T20I FIFTY FOR BETHELL! And what a special moment to achieve it here in Barbados, where he spent the first 14 years of his life. Joseph bowls a nagging length delivery on middle, and Bethell sits deep in his crease, attempting a big heave across the line. He skies it high, but the ball drops safely in front of an incoming Shimron Hetmyer at deep mid-wicket.

15.3SIX! Massive hit! Off-pace delivery but a bit too straight and not short enough to trouble the batter. Jacob Bethell stays put and just helps it over the deep fine leg fence for a biggie.

15.2Fuller in length and this skids through, on off, Salt creams the drive to deep cover. Moves to 95 with this single.

15.2WIDE! Tries to keep it away from the reach of the batter but spills it beyond the tramline on off, on a back of a length. Salt reaches out but fails to get any bat on it.

15.1Full and on off, at 144 kph, Jacob Bethell presents the full face of the bat and knocks it down to long off for a single.

14.6A bit comical that from Rovman Powell and the batters get three runs whereas it should have been a dot. Full and angled across off, Bethell squeezes it off the outer half of the bat to short third where Powell casually lets the ball through and chases it down but while picking it up, the ball gets knocked further ahead by his left boot and he has to dive in to save the boundary.

14.5Floated up on the pads, flicked away straight to square leg.

14.4Tossed up full and around off, pushed away down to long off for another single by Salt.

14.3Fractionally short again and bowled into the batter, tucked away through mid-wicket for a single by Bethell.

14.2Flatter trajectory, bowled short on off, Bethell rocks back and punches it across in between long on and deep mid-wicket, picking up a couple of runs.

The ball is going to be changed now. The selection has been made from the box of balls and we are all good to go now.

14.1FOUR! Jacob Bethell keeps throwing caution to the wind and picks up another boundary. Darted across wide of the off stump, Bethell sits down and slashes the ball off the outer half of the blade in between point and short third for a boundary.

Change of ball? The two umpires get together to inspect the ball and seem to be happy with the condition of it for now.

13.6Full and wide outside off this time, Bethell leans on and square drives it towards deep backward point for a single.

13.5Takes some pace off that one and bowls it short at the body, Salt controls the pull well and hits it down to deep square leg for a single.

13.4SIX! On a nagging length on off stump, Salt stays back inside the crease, and swivels to pull it away towards deep backward square leg. Sherfane Rutherford leaps and does get a hand to it but it is not enough to prevent the maximum.

13.3Top effort in the field that by King! Overpitched and outside off, Bethell hangs deep an backs away before drilling it wide of mid off. Brandon King there dives to his right and pounces on the ball, saving three runs for his side.

13.2FOUR! Sheer power there from Bethell. Length and on the stumps, bowled as a cutter, Bethell stays back inside the crease and slaps it over extra cover and picks up another boundary.

13.1Evin Lewis slips in the deep but manages to avoid an injury. Short of a length and wide of off, slapped away wide of sweeper covers for a couple of runs.

12.6Short and wide this time from Motie, Salt cuts it towards backward point for no run.

12.5Full and targeting the pads, Bethell comes forward and eases it away wide of long on for a single.

12.4FOUR! Cunning plan there from Motie but to no avail. Sees Bethell step down the track, immediately changes his line and length, fires it down fuller and wider on off. Bethell stretches out and just manages to get some bat on it. It evades the keeper and the ball rolls over to the boundary.

12.3Once again, Bethell trying too much here. Flatter delivery on the pads, Bethell looks for the reverse sweep but gets hit on the body instead.

12.2Quicker and fuller, onto the legs, goes straight on, Salt hacks it away towards mid-wicket for a single.

12.1No wide called and Phil Salt is a bit perplexed. Fired in well wide of the off stump line, Salt leaves it alone and the ball pings off the keeper's pads towards point.

11.6Banged in short, directed towards the body, Bethell leans behind and pulls it towards cow corner and picks up a brace.

11.5Hard length angling it into the pads, flicked away behind square leg for a single by Salt.

11.4FOUR! Wayward on leg stump and that deserved to be punished. Full and drifting onto Salt's legs, he just has to put bat to ball. Beats the short fine leg fielder to his left and the ball races towards the boundary cushions.

11.3SIX! That's gone all the way! Andre Russell with a juicy full toss on the pads of Phil Salt and he just picks it up and flicks it flat over deep fine leg for a six. Salt moves into the 80s now.

11.2Short of a length, angling across the batter, Bethell stays back and punches it off the back foot towards cover and picks up another single.

11.1Trying to get funky there, Jacob Bethell. Hard length just over off and middle, Bethell looks to reverse-lap the pacer but misses it completely.

10.6Full and on leg stump, goes straight on, Bethell flicks it towards mid-wicket for a single.

10.5Stump-to-stump bowling, swatted away down to long on for just a single by Salt.

10.4BEATEN! Quicker, shorter, wider, Salt stays back inside the crease to cut it through point but misses by a whisker.

10.3Full and outside off, Bethell makes room and drives it to deep cover for a single.

10.2BEATEN! Fuller, just outside off, goes straight on with the arm, Bethell tries to punch it off the back foot towards cover but misses.

10.1Speared into the legs, Salt stays leg side of the ball and punches it down to long on for a single.

Drinks break! This has been a real devastating showing with the bat thus far from Phil Salt and he is single-handedly taking England close to the win. West Indies need wickets and they need them soon to get back into this contest. Can they manage to stage a comeback? Let's find out...

9.6At pace and very full, near the tramline on off, Jacob Bethell reaches out for the drive but chops it down on the off side. 13 runs off the over. At the halfway mark, England are 106/2, needing 77 runs in 60 balls.

9.5FOUR! Skillfully done! Angling across the batter, on a back of a length, on off, Jacob Bethell waits for the ball to arrive and just taps it on its head. Steers it between short third and backward point for a boundary.

9.4Slower and fuller, on the pads, Salt works it through mid-wicket and crosses over.

9.3Pace on and slanted in, at the pads, on a length, Salt whips it in front of square on the leg side for a couple of runs. The 100 comes up for England!

9.3WIDE! A slower bumper attempted by Romario Shepherd, around off, Phil Salt hops to ramp it over the keeper but misses. The ball goes over his head for a wide.

9.2Shepherd takes the pace off and goes into the deck, over middle, Jacob Bethell hops for the pull but gets an inside edge onto the pads. A single is taken as the ball rolls on the off side.

9.1FOUR! Crunched! At 128.6 kph, full and angling in, on middle, Jacob Bethell stays low to make the connection and drills it to the right of long on for a boundary.

8.6Fired in, on a length, Jacob Bethell knocks it down to long on and takes the single.

8.5The length is pulled back now, slower and on a nagging length, on off, Salt stays leg side of the ball and drives it to long off for a single.

8.4FOUR! Fuller, on leg stump, Salt gets his front leg out of the way and muscles it over deep mid wicket and picks up another boundary.

8.3Speared in, full and on the pads, Salt gets inside the line and laps it to the right of deep fine leg for a couple of runs.

8.2Pushed through, short and on middle, Bethell goes down the track to smash it over long on but miscues the shot and it rolls over towards square leg for a single.

8.1Dropped short, on middle, Jacob Bethell goes on the back foot and pushes it to cover.

7.6FOUR! A bit cheeky there by Phil Salt. Full and outside off, Salt opens his bat face just that bit and guides it in between backward point and short third and picks up another boundary.

7.5Not all that short, on middle, Jacob Bethell jabs it through mid-wicket and gets to the other end.

7.4Full and on the legs of Phil Salt, he leans on and drives it down the ground towards long on for a single.

7.3This is on a short of a length, on off, Jacob Bethell cuts it late towards deep third for a single.

7.2Fuller, outside off, goes straight on, Bethell guides it towards backward point for no run.

7.1Angled across, on a nagging length, on off, Jacob Bethell looks to drive it on the up but gets an under edge that goes on the bounce to the keeper.

6.6Slower one, outside off, Phil Salt cuts it towards point for no run.

6.5This is on a short of a length, on off, Jacob Bethell waits back and nudges it square of the wicket on the leg side for a single.

Jacob Bethell is in next.

6.4OUT! WHAT A GRAB! Gudakesh Motie, you freak! Jos Buttler goes for a golden duck! Romario Shepherd bends his back and digs it in short, on off. Jos Buttler tries to ride the bounce as he goes for the full-fledged cut shot. The ball bounces a little bit more than he expected and it flies off a thickish outside edge down to deep third. Motie is a few yards in off the ropes and he does well to run sideways to his left instead of running in. He realises that the ball is going over his head and sticks out his left hand over his head. Plucks it out of thin air and he ends up losing his footing there near the ropes but he manages to keep himself away from the boundary cushions.

6.3Miscued but safe! Rolls his fingers over the ball and keeps it on a back of a length, around off, Salt shapes up to launch it down the ground with a horizontal bat. Slices it in the air but luckily for him, it lands in front of long off. A single taken.

6.2On a length, just outside off, going away through the air, Salt stands tall and flat bats it towards deep cover evading the cover fielder but gets cut down by the sweeper cover. Two runs taken. And with that, Salt brings up 1000 runs in T20I cricket.

6.1Pace taken off and it is banged into the deck, on off, Salt is early into his pull shot and he fails to connect.

Skipper, Jos Buttler walks out to bat now.

5.6OUT! CLEANED HIM UP! It has come at a cost but Motie has provided West Indies a much-needed breakthrough! Motie angles it in from around the wicket, full and around off, Will Jacks gets down for the sweep but the ball skids off the deck and scoots under his bat to clatter into the stumps. At the end of the Powerplay, England are 73/1, needing 110 runs in 84 balls.

5.5SIX! Jacks gets in on the six-hitting act now! Third maximum of the over. Speared in, full and right in the arc, on middle and leg, Jacks holds his shape and pummels it flat and over the long on fence for a six.

5.4Fuller and on off, Salt goes down for a sweep but gets an inside edge to short fine leg for one.

5.3SIX! FIFTY FOR SALT! Salt has simply blitzed his way to a 25-ball fifty. Extraordinary stuff. Motie drops it short, on middle, Salt dances down the track and gets on top of the bounce before heaving it over deep mid-wicket for six more runs. Fourth T20I fifty for Salt.

5.2Flatter and shorter, on off, Salt hangs on the back foot and punches it to mid off.

5.1SIX! BOOM! Motie gets greeted into the attack with a maximum! Darted in, on a nagging length, on off and middle, Phil Salt clears his front leg and creates a strong base for himself before lifting it up and over the long off fence for a six.

Gudakesh Motie has been handed the ball now.

4.6That is a fine over from Akeal Hosein, just 2 off it. Fuller in length and outside off, Salt looks to drive but ends up chipping it wide of mid off for a single.

4.5Just flights it up a touch and bowls it on the stumps, this is played back to the bowler.

4.4And again! This time to the right! Flat around off, punched away wide of covers but once again Evin Lewis intercepts the ball valiantly with a dive.

4.3That is a sensational stop from Evin Lewis in the field. Full and outside off, driven away hard and to the left of cover-point where Lewis springs across and makes a brilliant stop.

4.2Oh, that could have been a catastrophic way to get out. Pushed through around off, driven away on the up and towards extra cover. Salt looks for one but is sent back and has to bring out the dive to ensure safety.

4.1Good running! Fractionally short and angled into the batter, dabbed away in front of square leg for a quick run.

3.6FOUR! Wow, 24 off that over and the 50 is already up for England. Short and wide, there to be hit and Phil Salt cuts it away with disdain, well in front of square and finds yet another boundary.

3.5FOUR! A hat-trick of fours now and there's nothing wrong with that delivery, just top batting from Salt. Nagging length around off, angling in, Salt leans on and drills the straight drive on the up as the ball rockets between the bowler and the stumps to the fence.

3.4FOUR MORE! Pace off from Shamar Joseph now but this is a tad too short and wide and Phil Salt manages to control the cut and play it over the point region for a boundary.

3.3FOUR! Up and over! Hard length, bowled wide outside off, Phil Salt reaches out and deliberately looks to go aerial, slicing it well over backward point for a boundary. That one nearly traveled all the way.

3.2SIX! Down the wrong line and Phil Salt collects another maximum. Not all that short but down leg, Salt gets inside the line and pulls it up and over deep backward square leg for a biggie.

3.1Drop and run! Hard length on off, angling in, Jacks just pushes it into the deck and towards mid on before scampering across for a run.

3.1WIDE! Starts with a loosener as this is spilled down the leg side for a wide.

Shamar Joseph comes into the attack as the first change.

2.6SIX! Up and over! Speared in again, a bit fuller and at the stumps, Phil Salt gets across and forces the heave just over the leaping man at long on for a biggie.

2.5Good length again, curving in from outside off, Salt punches it from the crease to covers.

2.4Flatter one, on a length and angled into the batter, Salt gets cramped for room and fails to get it away past the bowler.

2.3Drifts it into the pads, Will Jacks gets across a bit and turns it through mid-wicket for a single.

2.2Flatter trajectory, around the fifth stump line, Will Jacks stays put and just blocks it into the off side.

2.1Tossed up full on middle, Salt clears the front leg and taps the ball to mid off for a quick single.

1.6SIX! Wow, some timing that! Banged in a tad short and well wide, Will Jacks is early to back away but has to really reach for it and manages to keep a stable-enough base in order to slap the ball flat and over the point region for a biggie.

1.51 run, the on drive comes out now. The batter gets a run.

1.4Good length on the pads, flicked away through square leg for a single.

1.3Gets enough on this one as well. Good length around off, Salt throws his hands at it, getting it over cover-point. Sherfane Rutherford runs after it but it lands safely and goes off the shin almost into the fence. Rutherford does well in the end and saves a run for his side.

1.2A safe-enough shot! Hard length over middle, Phil Salt with a bit of a checked-lofted shot as he lifts it over mid on for a couple of runs.

1.1Gets away with it! Too straight to begin with, on a length and down leg, the ball goes off Jacks' pads to short fine leg and they get a leg bye.

Who will bowl from the other end? It will be Andre Russell.

0.6A couple of dots to end the first over of the chase, England 6/0! Good length on off, jabbed away to the left of the bowler by Salt.

0.5Pushed through flatter again and on a nagging length, Salt leans on a bit and pushes it back to the bowler.

0.4FOUR! Too much heat on that one! Darted in at the stumps, Phil Salt hangs back and hammers it back through the line of the ball, to the left of long on. Rovman Powell scampers across and gets a touch on it but the ball trickles into the fence.

0.3Fuller one, sliding this one into the pads, Will Jacks nudges it away through square leg and gets off the mark with a single as well.

0.2Quick and flat again on a length, this time Salt backs away and punches it wide of Andre Russell at mid off to pick up a single and get off the mark.

0.1There's that inswinging delivery straight away! Fired in on a good length on off, this one angles in sharply with the arm and Phil Salt is beaten all ends up.
