England's batting struggles persisted as they were bowled out for 175 in 36 overs, with wickets falling regularly and preventing significant partnerships. However, New Zealand's pace bowlers, led by Blair Tickner's impressive 4/34 from 8 overs, performed admirably and broke England's back in the middle phase. An excellent job from New Zealand despite the absence of their prime bowler, Matt Henry.
It wasn't a straightforward win for New Zealand. Jofra Archer removed Will Young in the first over, showcasing good accuracy and consistency throughout his spell. The short deliveries troubled the Kiwi batters, but Rachin Ravindra demonstrated his class, batting through a tough segment to score a fine fifty. However, there was a period in the middle phase when England dominated. Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer bowled in tandem, making it tough, but it was a matter of when, rather than if, for the home team, as they were certain to cross the line.
It wasn't a pretty win, but New Zealand secured a crucial victory, taking an unassailable lead in the 3-match ODI series. Chasing a modest target, England's bowlers initially made it challenging for the Kiwis to cross the line, but ultimately, New Zealand's determination and effective batting partnership secured the win.
