With England trailing by 238 runs heading into the third day, India will need to make early inroads and hope the pitch offers a bit more for the bowlers.

Once again, England have succeeded in denying India an early wicket. They go into tea without any damage. Their opening partnerships this series now read: 55, 45, 59, 50, and an unbeaten 31. Post tea, the story is the same as Ben Duckett is taking the attack to the Indian bowlers. They are 54/0 after 9 overs

England have bowled out India for 445 as Jasprit Bumrah (26 of 28) is the last man out lbw for the hosts of Mark Wood.

The home side should be happy with the total, especially considering India were in trouble at 33 for 3 on Day 1. India's innings was boosted by centuries by Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja on Day 1, and excellent contributions from debutants Sarfaraz Ahmed(62) and Dhruv Jurel (46). Ravichandran Ashwin (37) and Jasprit Bumrah (26) also made useful contributions towards the latter half of the innnigs.

Ashwin, who is just one wicket away from 500 Test scalps, will be encourage by the pitch, which is offering more turn than the second Test in Vizag. The surface also has adequate amount of bounce to keep all bowlers happy.

Dhruv Jurel misses out on scoring a 50 on debut after being dismissed caught behind by Rehan Ahmed for 46. He gets a warm reception from the fans as he walks back to the pavilion after his impressive innings. India 415/9

R Ashwin and Dhruv Jurel have taken India past the 400 mark with a brilliant 50+ run partnership. After the loss of Jadeja, a score of over 400 was in doubt. However, the duo have steadied the ship after England made early inroads during the first 30 minutes of play, on Day 2 of the 3rd Test at Rajkot.

The celebrations were remarkably muted, the usual flourish missing as he twirled the bat, showing off his ridiculously strong left wrist, as if it were a toothpick. After a warning for India yesterday, England will begin their first innings on 5/0 due to players running down the pitch. This catalyst for the action was R Ashwin running down the pitch.

England struck a double blow early on today on Day 2 of the 3rd Test as they got both overnight batsmen out without much fuss. Nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav was the first to go, as he edged James Anderson to to the keeper Ben Foakes for just 4 (24). Soon to follow was the all important wicket of Ravindra Jadeja. The overnight centurion got into a shell in the morning and never looked like forcing the issue. That proved to be the downfall as he meekly hit Joe Root back to him for an easy caught and bowled. Jadeja was out for a well made 112. Debutant Dhruv Jurel, who hit an upper cut six of Mark Wood, and R Ashwin have steadied the ship somewhat as India have crossed the 350 mark. The first hour of play saw India lose 2 wickets for 26 runs in 13 overs. Score is 352/7 aftr 99 overs.

England have repeated their performance in the first 30 minutes Day 1 today. In the first 6 overs of Day 2 today, England have picked up 2 wickets, including the important scalp of Jadeja, and conceded only 5 runs.

Joe Root picked the wicket England were desperately hoping to get as he dismisses centurion Ravindra Jadeja. The part-time off spinner dismissed Jadeja caught and bowled for 112. Score is 331/7

James Anderson pick his 1st wicket after Kuldeep Yadav edges one to keeper Ben Foakes. Dhruv Jurel comes out to bat. Score 331/6

Sarfaraz Khan looked on course to making a well-deserved century on debut on Day 1 before being run out on 62 at the non-striker's end by fast bowler Mark Wood, who accurately broke the stump from mid on. Khan was dismissed after a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja, who was on 99. Reflecting on the mixup, Khan said: "It is a part of the game. Miscommunication happens in cricket. Sometimes run-out happens, sometimes you get the runs."

India still has some batting depth as wicketkeeper and debutant Dhruv Jurel is yet to bat, who will be followed by Ravichandran Ashwin. If England bowlers are unable to make early inroads, like they did on Day 1, India have a great chance of pushing the limits of their first innings score as close as possible to potentially 500. England skipper Ben Stokes will look to Mark Wood, the standout bowler from Day 1, and the experienced James Anderson, who went wicketless yesterday, to wrap up India's innings as soon as possible.
