Ghazipur, Dec 9 (PTI) Renowned Pandvani exponent Teejan Bai says that if vulgarity presented before the public in the name of art is not prevented, it would cause irreparable loss to the coming generation. "There is culture in Indian dance and singing, on the other hand vulgarity is being presented in the name of western dance and music due to which young generation is getting mislead," Teejan Bai told reporters here. The 55-year-old from Chattisgarh is an exponent of Pandavani, a traditional performing art form in which she enacts tales from the Mahabharata with musical accompaniments. Teejan Bai said that other than studying textbooks, practical education should also be made compulsory for children. She appealed to film producers that they should make movies which, instead of vulgarity, would promote Indian culture and show the right direction to the society. Good films will have good impact on the society, she said. "The reason being that movies are a visual medium and have immediate impact on the people," she said. PTI CORR AVA PG
